Artist's Statement
At this stage in my career as a filmmaker, I am fascinated by storytelling's ability to connect with large audiences through genuine and relatable emotions. My main objective is to capture these emotional moments of joy and laughter, the most powerful feelings I've been able to express using my art. I think that comedy is a transforming power; it disarms, connects, and generates shared experiences, and I use it not merely to entertain but also to inspire audiences to fresh ideas and observations.
Growing up, I was always caught between what was expected of me how I saw the world was supposed to be, and how I wanted to act. This has inspired my narrative style, influencing me to write stories that are open about our insecurities, and issues. I explore these themes with a level of intimacy and absurdity, hoping to entertain while also offering opportunities for self-reflection and shared experiences. In my creative approach, I provide a distinct perspective that sees comedy as a potent tool for confronting the uncomfortable or taboo.
My experience as an editor has driven my desire to create these stories. The flexibility of editing allows me to explore a film more intimately than just watching it, sometimes even changing its original concept. In the editing process, I discover new methods to surprise people, frequently employing timing and transitions to heighten humor or inject genuine emotion. Through my films, I aspire to create an inclusive environment in which viewers can laugh, relate, and possibly face parts of themselves that they do not frequently see on screen. My objective is to appreciate the beauty in the absurdity of our shared human experience and to tell stories that will stay with viewers long after the credits roll.
